Dear MYSversians,
After twelve years of building this community, I will be stepping down from MYSverse by the end of August, after completing our remaining commitments to the Sumaya project.
I will be honest with you, as I tried to be in my open letter back in May. This past year has taken more out of me than I had left to give. I have been involved at every level of this project, from writing code to administration, procurement and everything in between, and I have reached a point where I can no longer contribute in a way that is healthy for me or fair to you.
Rather than slowly fade out while holding a title, I would rather step aside properly and give MYSverse the chance to find new energy.
Before I go, I am keeping two promises. The Lebuhraya racing update will be delivered by the end of August. I said it was coming, and even if I have missed the orginal projection of July, I do not intend to leave with a broken promise to the players. I will also be spending my remaining time on a proper handover of our infrastructure and systems, so that things continue to run after I am gone.
I want to thank this community for what it has been to me. I joined this world as a teenager and grew up inside it. I have watched people here finish school, graduate, start careers and build things together that, to be honest, had no business being as good as they were. Whatever the past year has been, those years were real, and I am grateful for every single one of them.
My wish for MYSverse going forward is quite a simple one.
That it stays true to what it was built to be, something built by Malaysians, for everyone, out of genuine love for the culture and community it represents.
Thank you for twelve years. It has been the privilege of my life so far to be part of this community. The Administration team will share details about the handover and what comes next in due course.
Before parting ways...
There is a trend or meme of sorts across the history of the group, which observes that people who leave MYSverse always return in some shape or form, with very few exceptions.
While the future is hard to predict, I hope that trend holds true one day, under sunnier skies :)
